La La Land – Tom Scott

In the 1980’s I had a recording label called “Soundwings.” I was very proud of our recordings as I felt they showed the extraordinary talents that were involved in a
very special way. One of them was Tom Scott. I have been a fan of Tom from the time I first moved to Los Angeles. I am so pleased that we are able to re-release his album “One Night One Day.” Here is a little touch of what’s to come.
Below is an excerpt of “La La Land.” Composed, arranged and performed by Tom Scott.

The Leaves Are Evergreen – Clark Terry

My daughter Greer was going through some of my library and had some tapes transferred to digital. The enclosed is a track from my very first arranging job in New York. It was an album with Clark Terry, and when I heard it again after all these years…wow. The band consisted of Ernie Royal, Bernie Glow, Al Porcino, Phil Woods, Zoot Sims, Al Cohen, Urbie Green, Hank Jones, Dick Hyman, Milt Hinton, Mundell Lowe, and Osie Johnson on drums. The studio was A&R recording on 48th street and the engineer was Phil Ramone. This cut is my tune, and after they played it…I was soaking wet! I never thought I would ever hear this again! Enjoy!
